About Me

Hello.  I am attorney Jayla Wilkerson.  Thank you for your interest in my law firm.  I hope I am able to assist you with your legal needs.

My experience and expertise includes environmental, criminal, family, LGBTQ+, and other areas of law.

I was born in the west Texas town of Andrews, raised in the Lake Cities area of north Texas, and currently reside in Haslet.  After I graduated Lake Dallas High School in 1997, I spent a few years in the Los Angeles area pursuing an acting career.  I later started a career in the Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) trade.  I ran a successful business focused on light commercial construction and commercial refrigeration service.  In January 2008, I started my undergraduate studies in Social Sciences at the University of North Texas where I earned a perfect 4.0 GPA and several honors.  I went from there to the University of Pennsylvania in 2011 to pursue my law degree and my masters degree in criminology.  When I graduated in 2014, I promptly returned home to north Texas and began my legal career at the Dallas County District Attorneys Office.

I have a vast diversity of experiences which allow me to connect on a personal level with most people with whom I come into contact.  This ability is very useful in my practice because whatever you are going through, as my client, I have probably either experienced it first-hand or known someone who has.  This also allows me to communicate effectively with opposing council, witnesses, judges, and jurors.  I am not the type of lawyer who was born into a legacy of the practice.  I came from humble beginnings, and I was the first in my family to attend college.  I have worked in retail, restaurants, entertainment, construction, in-home services, higher education, and criminal and civil law.  As an attorney, I have worked in every level of government:  municipal, county, state, and federal.  I have worked on simple traffic tickets and death penalty appeals.  It would be difficult to imagine a more diverse set of experiences than mine, and I will use that experience to be the best advocate I can be for your cause.

Please review my resume for more information regarding my legal professional experience.
